Kerala Congress mocked PM Modi’s picture with Pope in a tweet that was later deleted
Kerala Congress on Monday posted an apology on their X handle a day after it took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his picture with Pope Francis in Italy.

The Kerala unit of the party had seized upon PM Modi’s meeting with the Pope, saying: "Finally, the Pope got a chance to meet God." It later deleted the post.

It was referring to the Prime Minister’s earlier remark during Lok Sabha campaigning where he expressed conviction that he was "sent by God" for a specific purpose.

The BJP flagged the tweet as insulting for the Christian community.

"This tweet by the Congress, equates Prime Minister Modi to Lord Jesus. This is absolutely uncalled for and is an insult to the Christian community, who revere Jesus. It is shameful that Congress has stopped to this level," Union minister George Kurian said.

BJP’s Kerala president K Surendran launched an all-out attack on Kerala Congress for "mocking the Pope and Christian community".
