Resuming his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s tribal communities and their effort in taking the concept of ‘Make in India’ to the next level.

From coffee growers of the Araku valley to the tribal women in Attappadi, PM underlined how India’s tribals have historically fought to uphold their traditional beliefs and identity. Recognising their effort, he said, tribal farmers from Araku valley were selling their rich and flavourful coffee to coffee lovers all over the world.

Recalling the contribution by India’s Adivasi community, he spoke about their effort to ward off invaders and how they fought valiantly to uphold their traditions and customs. Attappadi tribal women’s Karthumbi umbrellas found a special mention in PM’s address. Two months before the monsoon season, these women start handcrafting umbrellas in their tribal huts after receiving raw materials from Mumbai.

PM also thanked the people for participating in the democratic exercise (recently held parliamentary polls) and for their "unwavering faith in the Constitution".

This was PM’s first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ after taking charge as the PM for a third consecutive term. PM Modi’s last ‘Mann Ki Baat’ broadcast was aired on February 25, before the poll schedule was announced.
