The Delhi High Court has warned AAP’s legal cell of consequences after the latter gave a call to protest across Delhi courts against Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

This came after a lawyer wrote to the acting Chief Justice of Delhi HC, seeking action against the proposed move.

"Better sense will prevail. Nothing will happen. Many people say a lot of things. If they organise it (protest) in court premises, they will do it at their own peril. There are very severe consequences for that. The right to approach the court is a fundamental right. No one can be stopped, if someone stops the common people, there will be very severe consequences," the court said.

Earlier, in a letter written to the CJ, the lawyer asserted the use of court premises as a political ground in violation of the rules of the Bar Council of India. "Using court premises as a battleground for political parties is a gross misconduct of professional ethics and in violation of rules of bar council of India and also volition of the directions of the Supreme Court judgements," the letter read.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s legal cell has called for a protest at all the district courts of Delhi on March 27 against Kejriwal’s arrest. Advocate Sanjeev Nasiar, the cell’s state president, said that the lawyers would gather in all the district courts at 12:30 pm to protest the arrest.

The protests were proposed to be held at Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Patiala House, Saket, Karkardoona and Tis Hazari court complexes.
