Patanjali Misleading Ads Case: The Supreme Court on Tuesday noted the ‘improvements’ made by Patanjali Ayurved in issuing the public apology in the newspapers.

The apex court said that adding the name of the co-founder Ramdev in the public apology over misleading advertisements was an improvement and it shows ‘they have understood.’ This came after a bench comprising Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanulla examined the apology published by Patanjali.

The highest court also said that it appreciate the improvements made by the company.

"There has been a marked improvement. There was only Patanjali earlier, now there are names. We appreciate that. They have understood," the bench said.

Earlier, the court requested Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna to submit the original page from every newspaper where the public apology was published.

IMA Director’s Interview Irks SC

Additionally, the bench strongly objected to statements made by Indian Medical Association (IMA) President RV Asokan during an interview with the news agency PTI. These remarks were brought to the bench’s attention by Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who was representing Patanjali Ayurved in court. Following this, the bench directed Rohatgi to submit the interview of the IMA Director with PTI as evidence.

"Bring it on record. This will be more serious than what has been happening till now. Be prepared for more serious consequences," said Justice Amanullah.

"You have not covered yourself with glory and how can you decide what the court will do, if this is correct," the bench admonished IMA’s counsel.

In his interview with the PTI, the Indian Medical Association Director V Asokan said that the Supreme Court’s criticism of IMA was ‘unfortunate.’

"We sincerely believe they need to look at what was the material before them. They perhaps did not consider that this was not the issue that was before them in the court. It does not behove the Supreme Court to take a broadside against the medical profession of the country which after all sacrificed so many lives for the Covid war," V Asokan had said.
